Research funding is available from a number or sources; internal Rhodes University funding, research councils, government grants and agencies Industry, Commerce and Overseas. It is necessary to consult the relevant guidelines for the particular source when applying for funding. Most of the external sources have their own web site, the addresses of which are listed below, however, the Dean of Research’s office can be contacted for assistance. All applications must be routed via the Dean of Research’s office for official approval and validation BEFORE sending to the funding source. For many external grants there will be an internal Rhodes University closing date by which applications must be sent to the Dean of Research’s office for processing before sending to the funding source. Within Rhodes University, funding is available for bursaries, research grants, contingencies, scholarships, graduate assistant bursaries, council loans and travel.
