Timetables - Lectures, Practicals, Tutorials in 2010

You should be aware that the university has a sophisticated system for
allocating students to their lectures, practicals and tutorials so as to
distribute somethng like 4500 undergraduate students evenly across the
alternative periods available.

This system can only be run after academic approval is completed, or as nearly
completed as possible - usually on Wedneday evening of the first week of
lectures.

We shall be posting prominent links to where you can find your individual,
detailed timetable on the website at

http://www.scifac.ru.ac.za

and we ask that you visit this website next week and check to see when the
allocations have been done, and then look up your timetable by using your
student number. Furthermore, we ask that you comply with the timetable devised
for you, and do not take the liberty of designing your own timetable, as
otherwise we know from experience that the venues cannot handle the imbalances
in class sizes.

Many thanks, and best wishes for your studies

Professor Pat Terry

Rhodes Carnival

There seems to be some confusion about the Rhodes Carnival on this coming Friday, the 12th of February, due to the last message that was posted on StudentZone. To clarify, the carnival is meant for EVERY RHODES STUDENT, so please do attend this event and we will be looking forward to a great evening with you all – the entire Rhodes Student Body. The Carnival was shifted out of O-week especially so that returners could attend this event, since O-week is meant only for first years.

Tickets will be pre-sold at R10 and it will be R20 at the door. The pre-sold tickets will be sold at the SRC offices, through your SRC councilors and through your respective SRC Hall reps. please remember to bring student car ... read more

MESSAGE FROM SRC 2010

Dear returning students

We, the SRC, hope that everyone is enjoying the last few days of their vacation and is preparing themselves for the new academic year. We would also like to congratulate everyone on their exam results and to those who are writing supplement exams we wish you all the luck.

Last year the SRC discussed the annual street party that traditionally ended O-week and we have decided to change many aspects of the party ranging from name, venue and time. It will be moved to the 12th of Febuary which is the Friday of the first week of term. This has been done in orde ... read more
