Associate Professor Kevin Maree (MCom (Rhodes), CA(SA))
Kevin joined the Department of Accounting at Rhodes in July 1995 after spending six years in the auditing profession with Fisher Hoffman PKF. He became a partner of the firm in 1994 and served as a member of the National Technical and Training Board and the National Quality Control Review Team.
Since joining Rhodes, Kevin has lectured in the field of Financial Accounting. He is presently the lecturer in charge of Financial Accounting 4. He also currently serves as the Chairperson of the Eastern Cape region of the South African Accounting Association.
Kevin’s research interests are in the recognition and measurement of Intellectual Capital and ethical issues facing accountants.
From a consultancy perspective, Kevin is responsible for the internal audit function at GBS Mutual Bank. This was initiated in 1998 and is done on a part time basis.
Kevin’s personal time is filled with family outings, tennis, squash and being a part of the life of the Grahamstown Baptist Church where he is a member of the Church executive and worship team.
