The Old Rhodians Golf Club  based in Johannesburg, organises a number of events throughout the year to strengthen the alumni network and to raise funds for sport at Rhodes.  The Sutherland Old Rhodian Sports Bursary Golf Day is held annually at the Royal Johannesburg & Kensington Golf Club and draws about 80 participants, most of them alumni.  This Golf day has become a fixture on the Jo'burg Calendar, and raises in excess of R50 000.  The sponsors of the day are all people with connections to Rhodes and organiser, Terry Sutherland says they are very grateful for these contribution, which greatly assist the OR Golf Club in raising the funds.

Aside from the monetary benefit, the Bursary Golf Day, and other events organised by the Old Rhodian Golf Club, are also enjoyed for the excellent "Rhodes" camaraderie and spirit - an opportunity to connect with old friends and recapture some of the old varsity magic.

The Club has been running for many years and successfully runs these golf tournaments as well as other social functions in and around the Gauteng area. In addition to the clubs internal competitions such as Club Champs and a Better Ball tournament various other games are staged throughout the year against similar clubs from other tertiary institutions in South Africa.

All old Rhodians, golfing and non golfing are welcome to join in at our various golfing events and social functions.
