Trever Kenneth Downing (1959)
Mr Trevor Downing, owner of TKD Properties, died due to a heart attack while he was on holiday in the Drakensberge. He was born in Benoni on 22 February 1941. Mr Downing grew up in Nigel and went to Potchefstroom Boys High School. He went to Rhodes University and met his wife there. In 1960 they moved to Rhodesia and came back to Nigel in 1974 when his father, Mr Ken Downing, asked him to join the real estate agency. Back then the company was named Geo Rennie and Downing. Ken Downing died in 1982 and thereafter Trevor took the company, which is known as TKD Properties today, on his hands. Trevor Downing was involved in TKD Properties until the day of his death. He died on 21 March 2009 while he and his wife, Mrs Minx Downing, was on holiday in the Drakensberge, a place that he loved. He leaves his wife, three children, four grandchildren, his mother who is 95 years old and his sister behind. Trevor was a well-known face in Nigel and a promiment businessman. He will be fondly remembered by his family, friends and the community who knew him so well.
