Anthropology II
In Anthropology II students explore contemporary anthropological interests across the two academic semesters. Depending on the availability of staff, courses given include, but are not confined to:
- The Indian Ocean World
- Tourism
- Power and Wealth
- Urban Anthropology
The second year in anthropology extends a students' foundational base in the discipline, whilst providing further insight into the diversity of humanity and the methods and techniques used in anthropology. Through a close consideration of extensive ethnographic material, the core institutions of kinship, politics, economics and religion, are unpacked and studied within specific contexts. Students are thus introduced to an important method in anthropology in the second year -- the comparative method.
