Entry Requirements to Rhodes University
South African Students - National Senior Certificate
Students leaving school at the end of 2009 will earn the National Senior Certificate (NSC).
To qualify for the NSC students must pass seven subjects, four of which are compulsory
(two languages, Life Orientation and either Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy) and
three are of the student's choice from the subjects on offer at the school.

National Benchmark Tests
Please note that although it is NOT compulsory for learners to write the National Benchmark Tests for admission to Rhodes University it is advisable for them to do so.
Applicants who do not meet our entry requirements of 40 APS points will be advised by the Dean of the Faculty to write the relevant National Benchmark Tests.
Please be informed that it your responsibility to register for the tests and write them. Once you have received your NBT reference number you should e-mail it together with your student number to registrar@ru.ac.za.
