Pharmacy Degrees
Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm)
The Bachelor of Pharmacy degree at Rhodes University is 4 year degree programme.
The curriculum for this degree is laid down by the South African Pharmacy Council
and all students must pass all courses of this prescribed curriculum to be awarded
the degree in Pharmacy.
While the general curriculum is prescribed, transferring between different Schools
or Faculties of Pharmacy in South Africa is difficult, as each university that offers
Pharmacy has its own area of particular emphasis.
Students start the professional phase of their training in the second year of study.
In the final year students are required to select, from several options, 2 elective
courses, or in some cases undertake a small research project in partial fulfilment
of the requirements for the Bachelor of Pharmacy degree.
