Gerald Machona is a Zimbabwean-born visual artist who completed his MFA at Rhodes University with distinction (2013) and his Bachelor's degree in Fine Art from the University of Cape Town (2009). He has taken part in various group exhibitions, including 'US II' curated by Bettina Malcomess and Simon Njami at the Iziko South African National Gallery and the Refugee Day exhibition curated by Patricia Matongo at the Cape Creative Centre. He was included in the Mail & Guardian’s prestigious list of “200 Young South African” in 2013. Machona is currently represented by the Goodman Gallery, and has been selected for the South Africa pavilion of the 2015 Venice Biennale. His supervisors were Prof Simbao (theory) and Prof de Jager (practice).
