Commercial Products

Mycoroot is a product that is a direct outcome of the R&D Grant received from the Innovation Fund (Project Number 42305). The product is produced in Grahamstown and is available commercially. The product has been mainly marketed to the domestic home gardener, landscaping, wholesale nursery and agriculture markets. Mycoroot has been commercialised with the assistance of seed funding from the BioPAD Trust. Currently the company is being evaluated to assess the requirements for expanding the marketing drive. Dr Dames is the Managing Director of Mycoroot (Pty) Ltd.  Intellectual property is protected through confidentiality and trade secret agreements. Mycoroot qualified as an emerging company in the TT100 2005, 2006 and 2007 competitions and received a TT100/Bio2Biz 2006 Award for their contribution to biosciences in South Africa.
