NB: Subject Choice for First Year Students
1) Please try make it to the Subject Choice talk at 1pm on Thurs 10 Feb in the Chemistry Major Lecture theatre.
2) Before the Formal Curriculum Approval on Friday 11 Feb make sure you have read your relevant section in the Student Handbook and the University Calendar

3) Double check on the timetable checker to see if there are any clashes

3. 4) If once you have registered academically you are still unsure of your subjects please make sure you don’t skip any of these lectures during the following 2 weeks and ask questions.
4. 5) Talk to your Wardens, Sub Wardens and to successful senior students in your residence.
5. 6) If you are still then unsure of things come in and make an appointment to see the Career Counsellor at the Career Centre.
6. 7) Even though you have 2 weeks to still change your mind you do not want to push this decision until the last moment and miss too many lectures of your chosen subjects.
7. 8) Don’t drop a subject because you think it is “boring” or not relevant. Degrees are carefully put together to give you the best possible choices later on in your degree and career.
8. 9) Develop a love and interest for your secondary and ancillary subjects. Research and go beyond the material given in class in order to further motivate yourself.

The Rhodes University Career Centre offers a counselling and career education service to students to assist them with their study and career choice, career planning and career development while studying at university. Through the voluntary Rhodes Career Development Programme we aim to encourage and enable students to make and implement well-informed decisions about their future careers, their ongoing career development and to be as Career Literate as possible on graduating.
