Mpilo works with the Waterweeds Programme under the Center for Biological Control as a Quarantine Technical Officer. She maintains and develops quarantined insect cultures for biological control of weeds as well as the general management, running and maintenance of the biological control quarantine facility. Additionally, she assists in facilitating student projects, assisting researchers in biological control related projects with setting up and undertaking host specific experiments. Her main water weed focus is on a fairly new aquatic weed delta arrowhead, Sagittaria platyphylla.
