Mrs Joyce Sewry (Hons) Rhodes (MSc) Rhodes 

I am the Academic Development lecturer in the Department. In other words, my primary role is to assist students in their Chemistry studies. I run support tutorials for first years who are struggling or would like to improve their marks, and I lecture the Chem 1R course. I am also the first year coordinator and am assisted in this by Dr Lobb.

My academic interests are in the field of Chemometrics and Chemical Education.
A lot of my time is spent on Community Engagement : Khanya Maths and Science Club, workshops for Science teachers, workshops for school groups who visit the Department, Science Expo, Scifest workshops. Two weeks’ worth of Chemistry Outreach work in collaboration with Bristol ChemLabS saw us reach about 550 learners at 10 schools in the Grahams town district.
