Sioux has worked in the field of academic development since 1992 when she began as an English Second Language lecturer at Mangosuthu Technikon. She then worked for fourteen years at the Durban University of Technikon where she became Director for the Centre for Higher Education Development which was responsible for Foundation Programmes, entrance testing, student development, staff development, curriculum development and online learning. She then worked in the Centre for Higher Education Studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal where she taught on the coursework Masters in higher education and supervised at Masters and Doctoral level. She joins CHERTL at Rhodes University to develop the doctoral programme in higher education studies. The demands to theorise and improve the higher education sector have resulted in an increasing need for PhDs in this area. This doctoral programme combines excellent traditional supervision with doctoral weeks, guest seminars and an online environment to ensure that students undertake their research within an engaged community of scholars.
