Johannesburg Alumni Events

Date Released: Tue, 8 November 2016 13:30 +0200

The Jacaranda trees were a perfect backdrop for our Johannesburg events held from the 3rd of November.  The Vice-Chancellor’s Dinner was hosted by Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Dr Peter Clayton, due to Dr Mabizela being needed in Grahamstown. Much debate and discussion was held on the Fees Must Fall and how it affects tertiary education and Rhodes University in particular.

On Friday the 4th, the Legacy Luncheon was held for our more mature alumni who took great delight in meeting up with fellow Old Rhodians and swopping stories and memories.  This group consists of many donors and Bequestors and we are eternally grateful and continuously touched at the support that is shown towards Rhodes University.

On Saturday, the Reunion for all ages was held and once again, much debate and discussions were held on the current problems facing tertiary education.  The colour purple was prevalent in the room along with the typical Rhodes gees with Rhodents enjoying meeting old friends and making new friends.  Thank you to all of our existing donors who attended and once again, we were extremely grateful to receive more alumni pledging their support to Rhodes.
