My husband and I, who met at Rhodes in 1947, have been reading and keeping up with Rhodes for all these years. But now it is time to report that he, Edwin Neil Venter, known as Neil or Junior passed away this year on the 9th of June. I was with him to the last and was able to receive a last kiss from him before he passed on minutes later.

He was two months short of his 93rd birthday and did not suffer at all.

The death certificate said he died of old age. I was happy with that as I cared for him at home in a hospital bed and the aid of a carer over the last year. We were married for 69 years …and happy!
