Durban Reunion

Rhodes University Vice-Chancellor, Dr Sizwe Mabizela hosted the Durban Alumni events on Friday 27 September.  The first event was the Legacy Luncheon, which is directed at the more matured alumni.  A very intimate group of Old Rhodians gathered at the Riverside Hotel and took great pleasure in hearing the developments that are happening at their alma mater and the wider Makhanda/Grahamstown community.

Old Rhodians from all ages converged later that evening to catch up on the latest happenings at Rhodes University.  Mr Aluwani Nemukula set the tone of the evening as he welcomed everyone who attended.  The Director for Communications and Advancement, Mr Luzuko Jacobs made a captivating presentation on where our alumni are, the type of fields they work in and their fundraising trends.

Dr Mabizela delivered the main address of the evening as he highlighted the efforts the institution has made in assisting the greater Makhanda community through the Makhanda Circle of Unity programme.

The Vice-Chancellor ended his speech calling all Old Rhodians to be the reason someone believes in the goodness of people.
