Veteran marketing communications specialist Rich Mkhondo is an alumnus of the SJMS and completed his journalism degree at Rhodes in 1983. Mkhondo began his career as a journalist at the Rand Daily Mail and went on to work for various titles, including Independent Newspapers, Pretoria News and The Citizen News.
He later became Executive Manager for Corporate Communications at South African Airways, before moving to Discovery South Africa as Deputy Manager for Marketing Services.
Mkhondo was appointed Chief Communications Officer of the 2010 FIFA World Cup local organising committee, and served as MTN’s group spokesperson in the corporate affairs division from 2010 until early 2014. He is also founder of the Media and Writers Firm, a content development agency and reputation management consultancy for company communication needs.
