One of Africa's 100 Brightest Young MindsDate Released: Fri, 22 September 2017 10:04 +0200
Anna Talbot has been selected as one of Africa's 100 Brightest Young Minds this year! This year 1700 people applied, 17 African countries are represented.
Brightest Young Minds (BYM) is a 17-year old non-profit company that exists to create a positive social impact.
Anna has been selected as one of Africa’s 100 young leaders (aged 20-32). The organisation selects recruits based on their demonstration of their commitment to action and social impact. “The new recruits first connect at our 5-day summit (which she is currently attending from 24-29 September). Here they teach and inspire each other and, most importantly, act together. After being inspired by established leaders, which have included Ahmed Kathrada, Advocate Thuli Madonsela, Michael Jordaan, Ketso Gordhan and more, the delegates participate in leadership development and lean start-up methodology up-skilling.
The culmination of the summit is a team challenge, in which the delegates apply their new skills as they work in teams to design practical solutions to social challenges in the form of sustainable initiatives or businesses with a social impact.”
Anna is most excited about putting together the culmination project (hopefully it has something to do with developing education in low-income spaces). She is also looking forward to being inspired by some of Africa’s top social innovators- assets that she’ll value forever.

Anna is a Student Volunteer Co-Ordinator for Nine Tenths and ECD Residence Programmes at the Rhodes Unversity Community Engagement Office.
