Awards 2008

Student Volunteers: On the 22nd October the Student Volunteer Programme in the Centre for Social Development (CSD) hosted their annual awards evening at the Postgraduate Village. Guest speaker Dean of Education, Prof George Euvrard, encouraged the students
to continue living by the spirit of giving as they have done during their past year as volunteers.Students who had given of their time, skills and energy to local NGOs and schools were recognised with certificates. Awards were also given to the Health Suite, Canterbury House, Allan Webb Hall, Masincedane, SHARC and the Rhodes Debating Society in recognition of their outstanding community engagement initiatives in 2008, while Judy Orpen was named Volunteer of the Year.
