Term 1
Welcome
A big welcome to all first years, returning students, transferred students and international students. I hope the duration of your stay in the Hall will be memorable, rewarding and enriching.
2011 Final Exam results
Last year at this time, the Hall was 5th in the undergrad residences’ pass rate. I am pleased to announce that this year C-L Hall moved all the way up to second place amongst undergraduate Halls
Beit House achieved an 89.70% pass rate, which makes them the top academic residence in the university. Well Done, Beit House, we are very proud of you.
Well done to all the students in the Hall who did well and excelled in 2011. May you keep going from strength to strength, and we could be the top academic Hall this year.
1st years O-Week
We started off this year with an exciting, fun-filled and packed House Comm and O-week programme. So much has happened that it feels that we were on a roller coaster ride. Some of the highlights during O-week were the In-Hall Serenading, the Movie Night, Dining Room Integration and the House Comm volunteering in the Kitchens. Well Done to House Comm for working tirelessly, excellent organising (with some of you having not more than three hours sleep!) in making O-week a huge success.
A big thank you to all the Wardens for all their hard work, care and support of students and for making sure that all the students are settled and ready for the year. I also wish to extend my heartfelt thanks to all our Hall Fellows for their contributions during the House Comm training and the O-Week programme. Your input is highly appreciated. Thank you also to the Hall Caterers and Housekeeping Staff for their hard work and dedication. I am looking forward to a great year ahead with all of you.
C-L Community Engagement reps with the Hall Committee decided to establish partnerships with HOSPICE & GenX this year. A sign up list will be circulated for students, who are interested in tutoring, teach swimming and computers. There’s also a toiletries and stationery drive underway, so please chat with your CE rep in your House for more details.
The Environmental Reps of the Hall will be working as a unit on most events and projects. Their plans range from observing Earth Hour, having an Arts Day to collecting scrap paper for pre-schools.
Be sure to keep an eye on the notice boards for more information on these Community Engagement and Environmental events
