Head Student Welcome Letter 2013
Dear future Beit Ladies!
Congratulations on being accepted into Beit House for 2013. My name is Elri Steenkamp and I am the head student of Beit House for 2013. I know your experience in this residence will be enjoyable and exciting. Adapting to university and residence life is stressful and sometimes quite scary, but rest assured that you have been placed in a residence in which you will be supported and where there is always someone you has your back. I remember reading the letter written by my Head Student when I was in first year. The word “family” stood out in all the letters. With only 79 young women in our residence we are given the opportunity to know each other better and form close friendships. You are now one of those 79 family members.
Beit House is one of the most conveniently placed residences on campus, with close access most facilities and we have the honour in living what I consider to be the most beautiful part of campus. As a part of Courtenay-Laitmer Hall- one of the oldest halls on campus-Beit House forms a part of a family of young women who support and care for each other. Beit House is a residence for young ladies with spirit, energy and warmth.
We have a reputation of not only for academic excellence, but also a spirit of tradition and energy. All the young women of Beit House are friendly and welcoming and our warden serves as a second mother to those who are homesick. With study groups, inter-residence sports and social events you will never be bored in this residence.
The senior students always talk about the Beit motto: “PLAY HARD AND WORK EVEN HARDER.” Personally I believe that you have to work hard so that you can play hard. When you meet me I think you’ll understand.
The 2013 Beit House Committee, consisting of 9 young ladies (including myself) and our warden, Engela, eagerly await your arrival.
I look forward to seeing you all very soon! <3
