Our Toy Library!
As one of the Active Learning Libraries, the CSD Toy Library makes available educational toys of all descriptions for lending to community members, specifically the parents of young children. Workshops are run regularly and when toys are lent out, the parent is shown how the multiple uses that the toy has and how the toy contributes to the child's development. The parent is empowered and skilled to fulfil their role as 'teacher' in their child's life. The Toy Library is aimed specifically at those parents whose children are not in preschool.
The Toy Library was officially launched on 16 June 2010 (Youth Day in South Africa) and was a great success!
