Outings
Outing to SAIAB
Outings are an exciting way to learn more about themes. Exploring their environment makes children more confident, and seeing the ‘real thing’ helps them to learn concepts. We always take safety precautions when we go on visits.
Here are some of the places we’ve visited this year:
SciKidz
This year the theme was Space to explore. Lots of activities were organised so that we could climb, crawl, touch, discover, construct, blow bubbles, pour and measure and model.
SAIAB
South African Institute for Aquatic Bio-diversity (SAIAB) – We learnt about different fish, and how we can look after them. We saw how fish are preserved at SAIAB.
Albany Museum
Skeletons at Albany Museum
We learnt about how Insects live, and saw lots of different types of insects. We also learnt about Wild animals and how they survive.
We also like to visit: Fruit and Veg City, the Post Office, the farm, the fire station.
We sometimes go on picnics.
We ask interesting people to visit us: the policeman, the postman, the fireman, the doctor and nurse. We ask parents with interesting hobbies and professions to talk to us.
