Rita Westbrook

After finishing her studies in art, design and clothing manufacturing Rita Westbrook joined SABC TV as a costume designer in 1982 where she was promoted to senior costume designer in 1986. She also spent time as a designer / patternmaker at Est Famina factory in Johannesburg. Rita had the honour of being asked to design the national costume for Miss South Africa in the Miss Universe pageant in 1994. Her creation received the second prize in its category. She was commissioned by SABC Special Projects to restore and present period costumes for a costume museum in 1998. She works both abroad and in South Africa.
