Roux Engelbrecht has been involved in professional theatre, opera, dance, cabaret, TV and film as designer / art director since 1974. Roux has received numerous nominations and has received two prestigious Artes Awards for best design. He designed three earlier plays by Reza de Wet: Mirakel, On the Lake, (which was produced on the main programme of the National Arts Festival 2001) and Concealment. He has also worked with the First Physical Theatre Company (under Gary Gordon’s choreography) designing the set for Bessie's Head as well as for Rockabye for a Sleeping Man and a Barking Dog which was nominated for the FNB Vita Awards in the category most outstanding presentation of a contemporary dance work in 2001.
