Around The Block Challenge

The Around the Block Challenge is an annual event held by Drostdy Hall where all residences are invited to compete against each other, while having loads of fun.  This year’s Around the Block promises to be better than ever!

Girls race in teams of 6 and boys in teams of 8. The race begins outside Drostdy Dining Hall and runners sprint towards Summerset Street, with the Drama Department on the left; turn left onto Prince Alfred Street and continue up to the Chemistry Department; Turn left past the boom gate by the Zoology building on your right; left again past Jac labs; and finish off at Drostdy Dining Hall.

All Residences are allocated a different colour in order to create a bit of inter-res competition. Prince Alfred: green; Graham House: red; Oakdene: white; Celeste: yellow and Allan Gray: Blue. Prizes are given to the fastest boy and girl runnesr, the fastest team, the team with the most spirit and the best dressed team.

This year, along with the traditional braai we’ve always had, we have organised music and sound to create little ambience. The Graham Bar will also be opened so that after the run, the students can stay behind and have a party. So come along and you’ll surely have an amazing time
