Graham House
Community Engagement
Graham House community engagement projects for the year
As a dining hall we have begun to develop a relationship with N.V. Cewu, an underprivileged junior school from Joza. In this way, we aim to direct our community engagement efforts, whether as a hall or individual residences, towards the upliftment and improvement of this institution.
Due to the time constraints associated with second term, we will only be able to have two small community engagement projects.
These are:
- A hall movie evening, the proceeds of which will be used to the benefit of the school’s students.
- A Graham stationery drive, the collections thereof being donated to the school’s children, who are often without the necessary writing and creative materials.
Further, we will aim to start a res food garden next term. This garden will be a res project, and will require the ongoing help of Graham House Residents. The harvests from this garden will be donated to the school, along with a non perishable hamper, which will be financed by the double booking of Residents meals. We aim to take this project forward into the foreseeable future.
Lastly, we will be having a ‘Graham Day’ next term, in place of the sports event that is usually held before our res braai. This purpose of this project is to give Graham a face lift, focussing on the entrance. This is as the general appearance of the residence has been noted as needing attention by the residents.
