Come spend the next 3 or 4 years with some of the greatest friends you will ever have! In Graham House we pride ourselves in being a diverse house full of culture, history, great memories & good times! The advantage about Graham House is that it is situated in the most ideal place on campus & is central to many of the lecture venues, town & all the party hot-spots, like the Rat & Parrot, & Friars. The house itself consists of 54 undergraduate men, who each get their own room fully equipped with a heater, cupboards, desk & chair, lamp, & a book self, plus each of the rooms have their own basin & running water, and each room has resnet access allowing students access to the internet. The house itself has a spacious common room (which is the envy of all the other houses in the hall). It a great place to sit & chill with friends & watch TV. It hosts a full size snooker table, a table tennis table, a foosball table, as well as a TV with local channels as well as DStv & a DVD player. Even though academic excellence is something that Graham House prides itself on, the Graham Boys know how to have a really good time, from inter-res sports events to the various hall & house functions. You and your Graham House brothers can enjoy a lekker braai on a chilled weekend afternoon or even shoot some hoops in the quad behind the res. And even if you don’t feel like going out, Graham House hosts its own bar facilities, so that you can have some good responsible fun. So no matter what you enjoy doing for fun, Graham House is sure to have something for you. |
| As an international student coming to study at Rhodes I did not really know what to expect. After the driver the school sent to pick me up from the airport got lost and found Graham house pretty much by complete luck I will admit I was beginning to get a bit sketched out. But once I got inside and was welcomed by house comm i pretty much immediately felt at ease and that I had made a good decision. Over the course of the semester the guys that I have gotten to know in Graham house have really made my time here more enjoyable and have helped me figure out lots of things about this country ranging from how to put airtime into my phone to making sense of all these tuts to the best kind of beer to drink (black label!). In all seriousness though, even though it was just random luck that put in me in Graham house I could not have asked for a better spot to live this semester. The Warden and sub-wardens, house com, and all the guys I have gotten to know in Graham have been great and helped make my semester abroad one to remember. |
| I like Graham House because everyone in the res is so friendly - although there are different ethnic groups and people from different backgrounds. People should come to Graham House because it has many advantages: It is central to campus , which makes life much easier and comfortable. Not to mention the rooms are quite big and there are only 54 of us , so its not that crowded. |

| The fact that Graham House is renowned for being one of the top male undergraduate residents on campus is not the most distinguishable characteristic that would entice potential students to choose to live here. Graham House epitomises the spirit of community and fosters a sense of brotherhood. Home to 54 young men, this res provides students with an excellent support system that aids them in all spheres of their lives at Rhodes, whether it be academia, community engagement, sports or identifying one’s sense of self. It allows students to claim their space where their qualities are given the platform to contribute towards developing the ethos? image of Rhodes and South Africa. Our House Committee is of a diverse nature and aims at voicing the needs of all Graham students. This is often achieved through the “Open-Door” policy that is adopted, where students are at liberty to approach any member of the committee at any time, and discuss issues that are pertinent to their experiences and lives in the res. The committee is also of an interactive nature and takes its roles and responsibilities very seriously. Aside from the academic and administrative side of things, we’re often characterized as being the most mellow res; where everyone can simply enjoy the relaxed atmosphere that exists in the res. There’s something for everyone in Graham: if being serious about life &/or playing sports gets the better of you, then you can enjoy the bar area and common room facilities that always draws people and laughter at any given hour. So, if academic excellence, leadership, community and chilled vibes are your things, come join the G-House Gentlemen’s Club! |
| At Graham we take pride in academic excellence and in the past 3 out of the 4 years of my stay at Graham we have been ranked as one of the top 3 residences in Rhodes, with our sister res (Allan Gray) enjoying the top spot on numerous occasions. Not only do we excel in academics but we conquer in numerous sporting codes e.g touch rugby, under-water hockey and so forth. The guys at Graham are welcoming and support each other to excel in whatever one is pursuing. At Graham you are not only guaranteed a safe place to stay plus the support of fellow graham residents but also good entertainment in the form of our house functions/events. |

| I have been in Graham House for 4 years, and in my time here I have met many different people, who have contributed and influenced my life in some way. It is true what they say, living on campus completes the university experience - you get to meet a variety of people and make new friends; some of which will probably end up being your friends long after you graduate. But Why choose Graham? Every year we get a great bunch of guys who add their own mix to the house. Together, as a house, we take part in various Events, whether it be an enjoyable braai on an afternoon, or participating in Inter-Res sports. Through House Comm., there are various leadership opportunities, which can teach you anything from: Managing the house as Head Student or planning the social events for the year as Entertainment Rep. Not to mention the fact that Graham House is ideally situated on campus, and is central to all lecture venues, as well as town. Graham house prides itself on its relaxed atmosphere and overall appeal. You will definitely not forget the time you spend at Graham House. |
