Our Vision
Our vision is to be known as a department where staff and students are able to contribute to the process of educational development and transformation within the Eastern Cape and within Southern Africa through innovative integration of teaching, research, community and professional development.

Courses
The post-graduate courses are offered here and include in-service qualification upgrades (ACEs) and post-graduate studies (PGCEs, BEd(Hons), MEds and PhDs). Undergraduate teaching degrees are not currently offered.  For more course information, click here to go to our courses page.

Facilities
The Department has a well-equipped computer laboratory thanks to the financial support from the D G Murray Trust, the Khula Project and ORT-STEP. This teaching facility is linked through the University’s main server to the Internet and to a local networked laser printer. The Department also has its own library. It also has one main lecture theatre and a number of seminar rooms.

Location
The Department is situated on the corner of Grey/Somerset Streets in Grahamstown in the picturesque St Peter’s Campus of the University, with the main entrance in Grey Street.
