ACE IP
Advanced Certificate in Education (ACE) in Intermediate Phase (IP)
Type of Course
The course aims to empower Intermediate Phase educators in each of the 7 roles of the teacher and particularly in relation to the demands of the National Curriculum Statement. There is a strong emphasis on the Language/Literacy and Mathematics/Numeracy Learning Areas, where students’ theoretical insights and repertoires for classroom practice are equally developed.
The approach in this ACE is generally practice-based where students are encouraged (often as part of their assignment tasks) to implement in their own teaching contexts, the methodologies and theoretical understandings gained during contact sessions. The classroom atmosphere is informal and students are expected to take responsibility for their own learning by attending all sessions, reading widely, completing all assessment activities and participating fully during workshops.
