Dr Lorenzo Dalvit - Laurea in Sociologia (Trento, Italy); MA in Applied Linguistics (Rhodes University); PhD in ICT Education (Rhodes University)
Lorenzo Dalvit is responsible for Information Communication Technology(ICT) in the Department, both at an academic level and practical level.
He joined us in January 2008.
He is actively involved in research and outreach as well as teaching. He participates in the initiative in the Department to integrate Mathematics, Information Technology, Science and Technology Education (MiST). He also works in close collaboration with the Telkom Centre of Excellence in Distributed Multimedia; within the Department of Computer Science, with the South Africa-Norway Tertiary Education Development Programme which is within the African Studies Section of the School of Languages and with the NGO Translate.org.za.
Teaching: Computer Literacy and Information Communication Technology in Education.
Research Interests: Information Technology in education, ICT for development,localisation and access to education.
Outreach: Computer literacy training for teachers in marginalised communities
and installation of open-source and localised software in schools.
