Lwazi Mandilive (Live) Matiwane is a masters student interested in rural youth empowerment and education for sustainable development. She loves her Eastern Cape and want to contribute to its development and to inspiring love and commitment to this rich in potential, beautiful, promising and friendly province (it even says "the friendly province" on our number plates :)).

Her research is aimed at understanding the role of expansive learning in the potential development of rural youth as value creators and her case study is on youth farming activity in Lenye Village in the Amahlathi Local Municipality in the Eastern Cape. She hopes to understand youth’s potential to contribute to local sustainable development, to learn and understand how expansive learning or formative intervention research can result in youth continuously learning and developing themselves and their communities. She hopes to understand how this formative intervention method can be adopted and adapted as a possible intervention method of choice for working with youth for rural development.
