Dr Lausanne Olvitt
Lecturer
BA (Univ. of Natal, Pmb); HDE (Univ. of Natal, Pmb); M.Ed (Environmental Education) (Rhodes)
Lausanne has been teaching Environmental Education full-time for nearly 11 years. Appointed by Rhodes University as the EE Short Course Co-ordinator in 2004 and as a fulltime lecturer since 2008, she has been closely involved with developing curricula and course materials for adult learners.
These experiences fostered Lausanne’s interest in how environmental values and ethics are conceptualised and taught on courses, which then became the starting point for her PhD project she completed this year 2012. Lausanne looked at how environmental education practitioners deliberate the ethical dimensions of their work, and how their experiences on a professional development course have influenced such processes.
