Waste and ArtJunk Learning Commons
Avoiding waste and making better use of waste through creating useful or new products from ‘waste’ is the focus of this Sustainability Commons Learning Project. It involves participating in learning activities such as:
• Re-imagine waste as useful resource
• Producing new products from waste
• Developing strategies to avoid waste
• Reducing waste and re-use waste products
• Sorting and recycling waste
• Monitoring waste production and reducing waste production at the source
• Monitor waste management practices
• Improving environmental health practices associated with waste and waste management
Key partners in this Sustainability Commons Learning Project are: the Environmental Learning Research Centre, the ArkWork Collective, the Makana Municipality, the South African Waste Management Institute, the Masithete Project, business and community partners. This Sustainability Commons Learning Project is a project of the Makana Regional Centre of Expertise in Education for Sustainable Development.
