Water for Life Learning Commons
Learning how to share and manage water resources more equitably and sustainably is the focus of this Sustainability Commons Learning Project. It involves participating in learning practices such as:
• Identifying and assessing local water resources, water availability and water quality
• Making decisions in catchment management forums and water users associations
• Participating in water management practices that address both quality and quantity issues
• Participating in river health programmes
• Participating in trans-boundary water management programmes and forums
Key partners in this Sustainability Commons Learning Network (amongst others) include: the Rhodes University Environmental Learning Research Centre, the Rhodes University Water Research Institute; the Water Research Commission along with local catchment action groups and catchment forums such as the Kowie Catchment Campaign; Water management structures including the Makana Municipality and Amatola Water; Masithethe Development Consultancy and the GEF-linked IWLearn Programme. This Sustainability Commons Learning Project is a project of the Makana Regional Centre of Expertise in Education for Sustainable Development.
