Ntsika Reading Club
The Ntsika Reading Club is a joint Department of English/Friends of the Library community engagement project. Run, by Prof Sam Naidu, the club brings together learners from Ntsika Secondary School and students of the Department, in order to foster an appreciation of literature in learners, and develop service learning skills in the university students. The club reads poetry, short stories and novels, and engages in various activities such as reading performances, dramatisations, drawing and creative writing. Prof Naidu is a member of Friends of the Library, and in this capacity she has helped establish a number of school libraries in the Makana District.
