Date Released: Tue, 1 December 2015 13:27 +0200

The Linguistics Society of Southern Africa (LSSA) and Southern African Applied Linguistics Association (SAALA) will be holding a national workshop on linguistics in a transforming South Africa from 20-22 January 2015.  This workshop for stakeholders in the discipline of Linguistics will explore issues of transformation in curriculum, research and disciplinary practice.  The linguistic disciplines are articulated within a Southern African context characterized by rich linguistic diversity.  However this diversity exists within spaces intersected by complex linguistic power relations, English hegemony, prescriptive linguistic attitudes, social and economic exclusion, identity and aspirations among many others.
