Master's in Linguistics and Applied Language Studies
There are two types of Master's degrees offered by the department: (a) MA by dissertation or (b) MA by coursework and dissertation.
- Master's by dissertation only: Degree credits: 120 NQF 9 [SAQA]; Time required: 1-2 years; Requirements: Equivalent of honours degree in Linguistics or cognate discipline. This option is open only to students with undergraduate degrees in Linguistics from Rhodes.
- Master's by coursework and dissertation: Degree credits: 120 NQF 9 [SAQA]; Time required: 1-2 years; Requirements: A first degree in in linguistics or a cognate discipline
