Responsible Disposal of Hazardous Waste at Rhodes University
Rhodes University has identified various systems for socially and environmentally responsible disposal of items that are otherwise hazardous to the environment - which has implications for human health. The University is committed to identifying and minimising hazardous wastes on campus, and ensuring satisfactory disposal of wastes (hazardous and general) that cannot be reused or recycled - in keeping with its Environmental Policy and legal requirements such as the Environmental Conservation Act of 1989, the National Water Act, and the National Environmental Management Act. Note that the Occupational Health and Safety Act (1993) specifies the need for safe practices in the workplace.
