Rhodes University Green Fund Run
The annual Green Fund Run, organised by the RU Environmental Committee, is a fun run/walk with a serious aim: to raise funds for Rhodes University's Green Fund, to support initiatives that promote sustainability.

Upcoming Green Fund Run

Sunday date t.b.a. 2014 at 16h30 (ending approx 17h30).

Walk 3.5 km total (2 legs of approx 1.7 km) or Run 5 km total (3 legs of approx 1.7 km).

Team / Individual

R10 (minimum donation) per participant.

Early entries: Friday 15 March at RU Library Quad 09h00 to 15h00.

Late entries: Sunday 17 March at event start 15h30 to 16h15.

Venue: start/finish at Makana Botanical Gardens gate, Lucas Avenue, Grahamstown.

Spekkie Baton: Bring your ticket to collect at the start - you can only participate if you have this special Green Fund Run baton!

Drinking water: Drinking water will be available at the start/finish line.

Food and drink: The Block House will be open, and local organisations and entrepreneurs will sell food and drink from their stalls on the Bicycle Lawns opposite the Bots entrance gate on Lucas Avenue.

Stalls: Student and environmental groups are also encouraged to set up stands displaying their sustainability projects and events. Contact environment(at)ru.ac.za for more info.

Prizes: Certificates and symbolic prizes - in the form of a tree being planted in honour of the achievement - will be awarded to these winners. The winners will have the opportunity to plant the trees, and the names of the winning teams will be included on the register of trees managed as a part of the Green Fund by the Environmental Committee.

First 3 teams/individuals - to cross the finishing line.

Best team outfit - weird, wild or wonderful: promoting environmental sustainability.

Second best team outfit.

Biggest student residence team - the residence with the highest proportion of students participating in the event.

Biggest school team - the school with the highest number of scholars participating in the event.
