The Pharmacy Department at Rhodes University addresses environmental sustainability issues through a number of undergraduate courses. In Pharmaceutics and Pharmacology, risks associated with bacterial, protozoan and helminth diseases are addressed. For example, changes in climate and weather patterns lead to higher water temperatures which are conducive to the survival of the snail species that hosts bilharzia.
