2012 has been declared International Year of Sustainable Energy for All and the International Year of Co-operatives. While observation of an environmental issue on a given date may not immediately address a problem, it can help raise the profile of environmental concerns and increase awareness. It is important to consider the environmental impact of social, political and economic issues every day - not just once a year - and take appropriate actions.
