The annual Sappi BirdLife South Africa Birding Big Day is a fun, yet competitive day for South Africa’s bird-watchers, while at the same time raising much needed funds for BirdLife South Africa’s important bird conservation work. At Rhodes University, researchers and students join forces, often also engaging local citizens in Grahamstown who are birding enthusiasts, to participate in this annual event.
