Friends of Thomas Baines Nature Reserve
The Friends of Thomas Baines is a civic organisation that aims to assist in the promotion of the Thomas Baines Nature Reserve, close to Grahamstown. Tom the white rhinoceros, who has now moved on to happy grazing grounds, lived in Thomas Baines, and was known far and wide for the exceptional length of his horn. Every month, the Friends of Thomas Baines meet for a few hours in the reserve, removing invasive alien plants (IAPs), and enjoying the diverse local fauna and thicket vegetation.
