Academic and Computer Literacies
This Extended Studies course is divided into three subjects, which aim to teach different critical skills students need to succeed at University.
General skills classes. These classes aim to provide students with the skills they need to cope with writing, note-taking, speaking in tutorials and presentations, and doing research at universtity.
Computer literacy. This is taught over the whole year. The course aims to introduce students to the productive use of computers to accomplish different tasks, including using the internet and e-mail constructively, word processing for essays and other written reports, spreadsheets for presentation and ease of analysis of research data, oral presentations using powerpoint and an introduction to the development of Websites and Webpages.
Information literacy. This course takes place in the second semester. It is taught by the library staff and is about the different ways to access information using the library and its electronic sources.
