A Message From Your 2016 House Committee
Dear Botha House Students,
Congratulations on your acceptance to one of South Africa’s finest educational institutions, Rhodes University. You are about to embark on an unforgettable journey, as you thread your story into the fabric of the world. These are going to be some of the most important years of your life, so don't take them all too lightly.
As your House Committee, we couldn't be happier that you have been chosen to live in Botha House. Residence as a whole is a pretty neat experience; the living is easy and there are endless opportunities to educate yourself outside of the classroom. Also, the environment gives you the opportunity to connect with so many people on so many different levels.
As for us, your House Comm, we have been deliberating for much of the summer in order to create a variety of events that will enhance your experience, and create long-lasting memories. Our house ensures that there is something for everyone, from study sessions and academic debates, to sporting and cultural events, to our famed Bengal Rifle Club. Whatever you're into, no doubt we'll have something in-store.
Just a piece of advice from one Botha House member to another: get excited about the next few years ahead of you. Come with an open mind and look ahead to the personal growth that you are going to experience. Take advantage of all the opportunities that Rhodes University has to offer and soak it all up because it’s going to fly by faster than you think. In short, ask the right questions, take the necessary risks, and be prepared to make mistakes, and learn from them.
