Welcome to Helen Joseph House!
Welcome to Helen Joseph House!
Unique, friendly, close-knit and supportive . . . an apt description of the atmosphere within Helen Joseph House. Two separate blocks provide relaxed and fun space for 88 girls, from those in their first right through to fourth year students each year. We strive to ensure that your stay in res is the ultimate Rhodes Experience - and there's an enthusaistic team of students who work hard to organise smooth running of the residence, who plan fun entertainment events, and who you can always approach with any questions, or problems.
This team of dedicated students is your House Committee, together with your Subwardens and Warden. Let me introduce you to the 2010 team:
Warden:
Lucie Allan
Pictured are Helen Joseph Annexe and Helen Joseph B houses. All within close proximity to each other, the surroundings are countrified, quiet, and directly opposite the Hockey Astroturf and the Prospect Cricket field.

Spacious common rooms provide a gathering point for watching television, chatting, or simply relaxing... each common room is fitted with a television, and there are video machines and DVD players in addition to DSTV channels available.
The photo above shows some of the girls enjoying a Karoake evening held this year - the evening was thorougly enjoyed, with laughter and not necessarily brilliant singing abound.

Information about University activities, administrative requirements, and communications from the warden and house committee is posted on residence noticeboards...
The HJ girls are always ready with a smile, and know how to make the best of their university career.
