Ben Ryan Appointed as Temporary LecturerDate Released: Wed, 7 October 2015 20:26 +0200
With a small staff cohort, and the many responsibilities held by each staff member - including travel to conferences and sabbaticals, a temporary staff member who can fill in the gaps and ensure that the student body have consistent tuition is very necessary for HKE.
It is with great pleasure that we welcome Ben Ryan to fill this contract post with immediate effect.
Essentially, the requirements of the position encompass the four tenets of academia: research, community engagement, administration and teaching.
Ben fulfils each one of these in various manners: he is completing a novel MSc research project, is currently setting up the Sakhulutsha Youth Academy Programme which aims at the development and support of local soccer players in Grahamstown, and Ben is no stranger to teaching as he has previously filled in for staff members and has been a tutor and practical co-ordinator during his postgraduate career.
Ben writes, "It is a great privilege to be afforded this opportunity and I look forward to the exciting challenges ahead". Congratulations Ben, and we look forward to your contribution to HKE and Rhodes!
