Yashin Naidoo breaks SA Record

Date Released: Fri, 5 February 2016 10:43 +0200

Yashin broke the Double 720 Round South African National record in the Recurve Cadet Men's division. Currently 16 years of age, Yashin is embarking on a four-year programme to ready him for participation in the 2020 Olympic Games - which is a very realistic goal for this talented young man.

HKE has become involved in this exciting venture to provide sport science and strength and conditioning support to Yashin, who is resident in the Grahamstown area. Jonathan Davy, Dusty Zeisberger, Cathy Munro and Lee Pote are the team who are each providing an element of expertise for Yashin's programme. Dusty is managing his strength training, and has set up a comprehensive conditioning diary which has Yashin doing core training, stretching, body weight strength training as well as cardio/aerobic exercise on most days of the week and weekend (hard work!). Cathy has collated archery-specific fitness tests which will be implemented to track Yashin's progress over time. Lee and Jonathan provide programme management and will add elements of sleep, nutrition and general programme management.

The team congratulate Yashin on his latest achievement, and look forward to working together with him to produce more exceptional results!
